When we moved to St. Louis, we were blessed to have a pastor whose preaching made us want to read the Bible. When illustrating, he would use Old Testament stories first, then church history examples. It was really great. I would only add using examples from creation to that list because that’s what Jesus did so often.
So, I didn’t start reading the Bible everyday until I was a few years into my faith. That means I was starving my soul of its daily bread for a few years. This starving did not lead to growth. Our bodies need food to grow stronger. Our souls do too. You don’t have to remember everything you read – do you remember what you ate for breakfast last week? What you read in the Word that day is the food for your soul.
I’ve done a number of Bible reading plans since then. Come December, they are all the rage on the internet. I’ve settled on one I believe to work best for me (the wife uses it as well). I needed something low key, without all the box checking. I needed something I could keep up with if I fell behind. I also needed something that made sense to my mind.

So, there it is! I’ve printed this and pasted it inside the front cover of my Bible. But by now, I know it by heart. If you don’t like it, no worries here! Just find something. Your soul needs food – everyday. “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

This is sooo helpful…..Im in the middle of Psalm 119 so Im getting rly close to being done with Psalms which is so a great book. Tysm for this bible reading plan:)) I read my bible every night but not every morning which I should start doing:)
